Wuthering Heights
Reimagining Wuthering Heights as a Midwestern Gothic film, shifting its themes of obsession, generational trauma, and haunting landscapes into an American context. Set between the 1960s and 1990s, the adaptation contrasts urban modernity with rural isolation, mirroring the novel’s cycles of violence and inheritance. Costume designs focus on distressing and breaking down textiles to reflect lived experience—fabrics were aged, mended, and weathered to embody the harsh landscape. Drawing on 19th-century pioneer clothing while linking the two later decades, emphasizes the cyclical nature of memory and violence. Costume as a language that tied emotional intensity to place, underscoring the story’s enduring resonance.
