Born and raised in Rome, Serena Maria Bosco is a costume designer and illustrator with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Performance Costume from the University of Edinburgh. Her creative training begins with dance, theatre, and visual arts, cementing her passion for storytelling. Serena developed a strong academic foundation in art history, fine art, English and Italian literature, which informs her sensitivity to narrative, aesthetics, and cultural context.

Her work spans theatre, opera, and film, where she brings together historical research, illustration, technical drawing, and hands-on costume making. Recent projects include designing and styling costumes for Waiting for Marcus (2024), a short film nominated for the BFI Futures Film Festival 2025, and designing and handmaking 10 historically accurate XIV century garments for Terziere Santa Maria as part of the Tria Turris cultural festival in Tuscany (2025). She has collaborated on international projects such as the Prague Quadrennial 2023 and and gained extensive backstage experience as a dresser for four consecutive years during the University of Edinburgh’s annual costume showcase.

 

Known for her dedication, curiosity, and collaborative spirit, Serena is passionate about the artistry of costume as a dialogue, and is eager to contribute her skills within professional costume houses, ateliers, and theatre/film productions.
